Founded by GMichael Merrifield, bassist, producer, songwriter, and creative visionary, Utopian Dreams has been creating and performing original music since 2011, when the project was launched in Santa Cruz, California. What began as a musical vision has grown into a professional recording and production environment dedicated to helping artists bring their creative ideas to life.
Raised in a musical family in Denver, Colorado, GMichael discovered early that the bass guitar was more than an instrument, it was his voice. Influenced by jazz, funk, R&B, Latin rhythms, and contemporary groove music, he developed a style that balances technical precision with authentic emotional expression.
Today, Utopian-Dreams Studios serves as a creative hub for recording, production, mixing, mastering, digital distribution, artist development, and multimedia content creation. At the heart of the studio remains Utopian Dreams, a nu-groove jazz project blending modern grooves, sophisticated harmonies, and timeless musical storytelling. Every project is guided by a simple philosophy:
